Is this week biting it hard for anyone else or is it just me?
Maybe some new comics will cheer me up. Here are some random choices and there are a whole lot more after the jump.
Batman: Battle for the Cowl - Arkham #1 Okay, we all know that neither Two-Face nor the Riddler will be the new Batman, but when is an Arkham mini-series not fun?
Amazing Spider-Man #592 NYC has a new mayor and the march to the landmark 600th issue begins here as Mark Waid brings us "Spider-Man 24/7." Let's see how that stick in JJ's craw.
Skrull KIll Krew #1 (of 5) There's a cow variant cover. I usually dislike variants. But it's a cow variant. How is this book not going to be golden? It's also written by Adam Felber who's a writer on Real Time with Bill Maher and has been fantastic on "Wait Wait - Don't Tell Me" the last two weeks.
Battlestar Galactica: Final Five #1 About frakkin' time.
World of Warcraft #18 There be trouble a-brewin' as the truce between the Horde and the Alliance may not be as strong as they thought ... which is fine with me. Here's hoping the Horse slaughter those pansy Alliance buttheads. For the Horde!
X-Files #6 (of 6) The latest movie bombed, so it's only natural that the comic book that launched with it fell that far below the radar as well. It's a shame too because comics is the perfect format for Mulder and Scully's adventures.
Lillim #2 A fantastic little book steeped in magic and the macabre that you should all check out.
Wolverine: Noir #1 (of 4) Marvel continues the Noir books with Wolverine this month, bringing Logan to a more realistic world of dim lighting and alcohol. Wait - how is this different than the real Wolverine?
Incognito #3 Just buy it already. You know you want to.
Halo: Uprising #4 (of 4) Wasn't this series supposed to be done before Halo 3 came out ... you know, two years ago? The book bridges the gap between the second and third games and here we are on the cusp of the fourth (not counting Halo Wars).
Hit the jump for the full skinny on this week's releases.
I fear for some crazy book to be announced to ship on Wednesday and everyone falls for it until they look at a calendar.
Batman: Battle for the Cowl - Man-bat Okay, I get that he has a bat-theme going on, but does anyone actually think that the freakin' Man-Bat will become the new Batman?
Justice Society Of America: Thy Kingdom Come: Part One How long is that title, sheesh? And is anyone else over the merging of the DCU and Kingdom Come? It was a great four issue series. Why couldn't it have ended?
Seaguy: The Slaves of Mickey Eye #1 (of 3) Grant Morrisson returns to the character he created some years ago. A critical darling, the book flopped as Morrisson hadn't yet garnered the fame he has now. Could is name bring more people to this title or will they stay away because it's a more or less unknown property?
Prototye #1 (of 6), Resident Evil: Fire and Ice, Mirror's Edge #6 (of 6) I think this video game fad is fading. Don't you agree?
Captain America Comics 70th Anniversary Special The Sentinel of Liberty turns 70 and the House of Ideas celebrate in style.
Franklin Richards: April Fools! I do so very much enjoy these books. Keep 'em coming!
Pride & Prejudice I do love classic English literature infused with zombies and a survival horror tale of - huh? Wait, you mean this isn't Pride & Prejudice & Zombies? Oh, man. Dang.
So while it's nice and sunny and warm outside, let's stay inside and read some funnybooks!
Don't forget to hit the full release list after the jump.
Batman: Battle for the Cowl - Comissioner Gordon Gotham's in a bit of a pickle without the Caped Crusader around and it falls at the feet of one near-retirement detective to keep it all together.
Justice League of America #31 It's the fallout of FINAL CRISIS as the team deals with Batman's death as well as Superman's New Krypton fiasco. Can the team survive after what it's been through or is Black Canary tilting at windmills?
American Jesus, Vol. 1: Chosen TPB Not only is this a reprint trade, it's now being billed as the first part of a longer story. Oh, that Mark Millar, he's such a cad. Good story though.
New Avengers #51 Dr. Strange is back and the world of magi is going haywire. And who is challenging Strange for the title of Earth's Sorcerer Supreme?
Secret Invasion Chronicles #1 The top selling book of the year is brought back and reprinted in chronological order with some of the major tie-ins. The Civil War Chronicles actually sold pretty well, so these may actually be in demand.
Amazing Spider-Man #589 Know why you are going to buy this issue? Because it's the return of the mother-loving Spot. Yes, the SPOT!
Review: Avengers: The Children's Crusade #1
I literally clapped my hands together and said OhMyGodYesssss when the friendly staff member at my regular shop held this book out to hand it to me. Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung finally - finally - return to this title with a nine issue limited series. I will spare you paragraphs of pontification and cut to the chase: it's not just good, it's the best thing Marvel has going, period. Read on for the pontification and petty quibbles!...
